Omkar has brought sarees with Maharaj ji’s help. Amma ji is amazed to see how much he does for their family. I said I wanted to give sarees to the ladies at the widow ashram and he left to get it. Omkar acts all modest. I too thought to bring some colours to the life of the widows just like you. Madhvi gets thinking. She recalls seeing Sudha in tears and all shaken up. Prabha is irked that Chaturvedi family spends money so lavishly. Amma ji says one has to donate to get God’s blessings. I have to do all this to make my life worthwhile. Prabha talks about Gangaa. She too is a widow. Gangaa just enters inside along with Sagar, Yash and Niru. Madhvi asks her about her exam? Yash instead asks for food. Gangaa thinks of Sagar’s words. I gave all the answers that I could remember. I couldn’t write. I would
not have been able to give the exam if it wasn’t for Sagar. Drishti and Madhvi are glad to know that Sagar helped her whereas everyone else is not glad. Madhvi calls her son smart. Prabha whispers against Gangaa in Amma ji’s ears. If this girl clears the exam, then she will start going to school. Your planning will flop. Madhvi, Niru and Driahti takes the kids to give them food.
Pulkit is talking to someone on phone (his girlfriend probably) in the balcony. Madhvi calls out for him. She asks him who he was talking to? He lies that it was Sunny. He called for some urgent work. Madhvi tells him to sleep as it is late. His phone rings again. He hastily tells the caller that they will talk tomorrow and ends the call.
Gangaa comes to Sagar’s room. He asks her if she has some work? She shakes her head. He tells her not to stand over his head like a ghost (wearing a white saree). She says thank you to him for helping her. You helped me in writing the exam. He reminds her of her words. You declined to help. She points out that he only had refused in the first go. I had to give the exam in any case or I would have failed. He replies that she will fail. You made me write all the wrong answers. You forced me. You wanted to clear the exam honestly. Now we will wait and watch the result. She agrees with him. I checked in my book. A lot many answers were wrong. But I won’t fail. He says we will get to know about it tomorrow. We will understand who is right here. Amma ji hides while Gangaa walks out of the room. Sagar wrote her exam. He is saying that she won’t pass so it must be true. Thank God! I don’t have to worry about anything now. Everyone’s expectations will be met and I will be safe.
Gangaa is unable to sleep. Amma ji notices her twisting in bed. Why can’t you sleep? She has no idea. Amma ji knows that she is worried about her result. It will come out tomorrow. There is no point staying awake the entire night. It will be good if the morning happens a little late tomorrow. You will get hurt. You made Sagar write all the wrong exams. Next morning, Prabha is busy eating dry fruits. Amma ji tells her that it heats up the body. Prabha denies it. She says It gives us strength. Amma ji is tensed about Gangaa’s result. Prabha wonders what if Gangaa clears the exam? Amma ji tells her to use her mouth to chew the dry fruits. Madhvi is looking for Gangaa. No one has seen her since morning. Drishti tells her that Gangaa is in the balcony.
Gangaa talks to her cycle. Sir has gone to bring my result. Do you think I will pass? Madhvi sits beside her. You were talking to your Bappa? Gangaa nods. I am very worried and scared about the result. Madhvi tells her to hug the cycle and listen to her inner voice / Bappa. All your worries will go away. Gangaa does it. She sees her Bappa smiling down at her and smiles. Niru calls out for her. Madhvi says everything will be fine. Go downstairs. Gangaa leaves. Everyone in the house is tensed. Prabha asks about the result? Niru instead asks her to say what it could be? It seems like you are the most worried person here. Niru calls out for Gangaa a little louder. She walks closer. Don’t you want to know the result? You must be thinking whether you cleared your exam or not? She straight away apologizes to him. Sagar was right. I gave a lot of wrong answers. You have proved it today that I was right. You have cleared the exam! Everyone is happy except Amma ji, Prabha and Omkar. Gangaa is thrilled. Are you joking? Niru says no. Prabha tells Amma ji that their fears have come true. Amma ji signals to her to be quiet.
Niru wipes Gangaa’s tears. It is a happy moment. He gives her the result. She straight away runs to give Amma ji a hug. I cleared the exam and won the bet too. You lost. Madhvi too gives her a warm hug. Drishti too congratulates her. Niru asks for sweet. Maharaj ji was sure that Gangaa will pass her exam. She hugs him too. He blesses her. She makes Niru eat a piece of sweet. He gives it to her too. She asks for Sagar. She runs out to give him the good news. Maharaj ji offers sweets to Amma ji but she stands there tight lipped.
Sagar is playing with his friends. Gangaa calls out for him. He is ecstatic to know that she passed the exam while Yash is unhappy. Gangaa confidently says that she too will study in their school now. I will talk in such fluent English that you will be surprised. She talks in broken
language and all the kids laugh at her. Yash mocks her and then corrects her. Sagar stands there all quiet. Gangaa asks him if he isn’t happy after hearing about her result? I have really cleared my exam. Question your friends why they are making fun of me? I am not stupid. I don’t know its meaning, but it will be surely wrong if you (Yash) have said it. She again wants Sagar to tell everyone that she too will study in a big school. Sagar recalls putting her in the cupboard when his friends had come to his place last time. The kids yet again taunt her again. She sadly turns to go when she hears someone clapping. It is Sagar. She confirms with him if that clap was for her or for himself after hitting a 4 in the match. He replies that he clapped for her. She smiles broadly. You proved yourself right. Congratulations! He eats the sweet from her hand. Gangaa thanks him. Yash fumes in a corner.
Madhvi and Niru tell Gangaa to get ready. We have to go to The market to shop for you (new bag, notebooks, uniform). Gangaa smiles imagining herself wearing the school uniform. She gets super excited that she will get new stuff and go to school as from tomorrow. She tells it to Sagar when he comes there. She goes to get ready. Niru talks to Sagar. He says Gangaa is really happy. No doubt she has worked really hard for it, but you too have a hand in her achievement. I am really proud of you. Sagar is happy to know that Gangaa will be going to school as from tomorrow.
Gangaa is making her braid as she looks at her bag and books. She smiles seeing her Bappa. He loves the uniform. You will look like a princess in them. It is all because of your hard work. It proves that one can even touch the sky if he makes up his mind at something. He kisses her on her forehead. You are really lucky and intelligent. There are many parents in the world who send their kids to school forcefully, while there are many who are unable to do so. They don’t know the importance of studies. They don’t know that its all darkness in life if you aren’t educated. I am very happy for my daughter who studied hard to make an identity for herself. You are going to study in such a big school. She is scared though. He tells her that he is always with her. She shouldn’t be scared. He gives her a hug.
Sagar gets ready for school. Gangaa tells her Bappa that she misses him a lot. He replies that he too misses her. But you have got Sir (Niranjan) and Madhvi in my place. They take so much care of you and love you so much. Sagar and Madhvi talk about Gangaa. Gangaa’s Bappa is surprised to see so many books. He arranges them for her. She shares that she is a little worried if she will be able to live up to her word. He is sure it will happen if she puts her heart to it. What you think of can always happen! Take everyone’s blessings before leaving for school. He disappears by the time she thinks of seeking his blessings. She kisses the cycle and hugs it. I know you are with me. Bappa had told me to seek everyone’s blessings!
Niru asks for his file from Madhvi. Gangaa comes there just then wearing her uniform. Madhvi and Niru looks on sweetly. They compliment her as she is looking very good. People will recognize you from afar. She says that she has come to seek their blessings. You are like my parents for me. She bends down to touch their feet, but they stop her. Girls don’t touch feet. Gangaa insists, but they anyways bless her for a good and bright future. You have a right on every happiness and you will get it. You have taken the first step. Your destination is in front of you. Madhvi adds that they will always pray that she becomes successful.
Amma ji greets Omkar. She calls out for Gangaa as she needs her medicine. Maharaj ji brings it. Omkar asks for Gangaa? Prabha asks for breakfast so Maharaj ji leaves. Yash comes downstairs all set to go to school. Prabha compliments him. Amma ji asks for Madhvi, Niru and everyone else? Sagar too shows his new uniform to everyone. Amma ji is all happy to see him thus. It is your first day in the new class. She showers him with love and blessings. Prabha too enacts like her. Everyone smiles seeing it. Madhvi and Niru comes there as well. Madhvi says they were talking to Gangaa. Amma ji is curious about Gangaa’s whereabouts. Niru calls out for Gangaa. Amma ji, Prabha and Omkar are aghast to see her dressed up, wearing a school uniform. Amma ji wants to know why she is wearing a school dress. She questions Niru once again. This red frock and shoes! Niru reasons that Gangaa will have to wear school uniform like all the other kids as she too will join the school as from today. Drishti compliments Gangaa. Amma ji is shocked and angry. Madhvi tells her to come for the breakfast, but Amma ji tells them to stop.
Amma ji says you all have lost your mind. Have you forgotten she is a widow? Yes we had spoken and I had agreed, but she cannot go to school in this uniform. Niru says we will have to abide by the school rules. You agreed for the exam. You knew she will have to wear the uniform. Amma ji cannot go against the societal norms. She is insulting our religion and scriptures by wearing such clothes. Niru talks about rules at school. They don’t listen to religion. Amma ji asks them how they will feel if she wears colourful clothes and roams in the market like that? She says Gangaa cannot go to school in these clothes. I melt down for you people and for you two! I cannot let this happen. This girl has committed a sin. I will have to keep tough fasts to rectify her mistake. Madhvi tries to say something, but Amma ji cuts her
off. You may like these new rules, but I won’t let anything like this happen in my house till I am alive. I won’t let my long years of devotion go through the drain. She goes inside and comes back holding a white saree in her hand. Amma ji throws it at Gangaa. This is the truth of your life. This is the only colour in your life now. It will be your identity till your last breath. No other colour can ever replace it in your life. This is the life of a widow. Prabha, Omkar and Yash look on happily. Sagar requests her not to do this. He says Gangaa and I have tried so hard. She tells him to keep quiet in this matter. We elders will decide. She yet again tells Gangaa to change her clothes. Gangaa sadly turns to go and change. Madhvi and Niru feel bad. Amma ji tells everyone to make preps for the last day of puja (prayer) in the Ashram (of Bhagvad Gita).
