SATURDAY UPDATE ON GANGAA, 10TH OF NOVEMBER 2018

Maid paces outside the room.
Maharaj ji gives food to all the kids. Call me in case you need anything. Sagar is about to eat, but he thinks of Gangaa. She cannot eat fried food plus Dadi had taken her away. He picks up his plate and goes to look for Gangaa.
Maharaj ji tells Sagar that he cannot meet Gangaa today. She will be locked in the room for the entire day. Amma ji has strictly told us not to let anyone meet Gangaa. Sagar tries to go inside the room, but the Maid stops him. He walks away sadly, but then notices the water pipe. He gets an idea. He keeps the overflowing end of the pipe on the floor. Maharaj ji asks the Maid to bring Tulsi. She refuses as she has been ordered not to move away from outside Amma ji’s room. Maharaj ji begins to go, but slips. Maid comes to help him, but she too falls down. Sagar makes use of the opportunity. He wakes Gangaa up. He takes her upstairs with him. Maid notices it too. I wonder what new problem this girl will create now? Sagar sends Gangaa to Niranjan’s room.
Gangaa interrupts the chess game. Amma ji is irked with the Maid. Gangaa wants to talk to him regarding something important. Amma ji tries to take her away, but Niranjan stops her. it must be something important or Gangaa would not have come here like this! Tell me what it is? Gangaa says I have come to complain to you about Amma ji. Everyone is taken aback. Niranjan tries to dismiss the topic as he notices the upset look on the face of his brother-in-law (Omkar), who came for a visit with his daughter, Drishti. Omkar calls Gangaa a servant. You have given this much freedom to your servants that they can complain against the owner? Amma ji is happy that there is someone in the house who can speak for her. Omkar asks her to come with him. He says I know you are my Mother-in-law, but I think of you as my mother. I will treat you with respect in my house. Niranjan asks Amma ji if she misbehaved with her? Amma ji says a little girl (stranger) is complaining to you against your own mother and you are listening to her? Is this how you respect your mother? Niranjan turns to Gangaa. You can speak if you have something else to say. I won’t listen to any complaint against my mother. Gangaa tries again, but he stays put. He reminds her that he has given the responsibility to Amma ji to look after her. Gangaa stares at Amma ji before she leaves from there. Madhvi is disturbed.

Gangaa sadly thinks of how Niranjan has changed. Sagar asks her if she has told everything to papa? She shares with him what all Sir (Niranjan) said to her. Amma ji must have played her cards well which is why he would have thought that I am wrong. What should I do now? Sir (Niranjan) won’t listen to me. I have no one. Sagar agrees to be with her. You are not alone. Gangaa wonders what if he too changes like Sir (Niranjan) because of Amma ji’s influence? Sagar gives her a written confirmation that he will always be with her. I will listen to everything that you say. He makes her make a thumb impression of her thumb. He too does the same instead of signing it. He reads it out for her. She is happy to know that everything becomes permanent if you write it down. This is our agreement. Gangaa naively says I could have made Sir (Niranjan) write down everything too beforehand . He would have listened to me then.
Madhvi feels that Niranjan should have listened to Gangaa. Maybe Amma ji had done something with her that was way too strict. If not, She wouldn’t have complained otherwise. You know Amma ji’s anger. He knows, but he also knows that Amma ji was upset over what Gangaa did at the lunch time. She would have surely punished Gangaa. Madhvi points out that he still didn’t let Gangaa say anything. He had no option as his Brother-in-law was also there. It is different to talk personally. I cannot argue with Amma ji before Brother-in-law. I don’t like a lot of things about him, but I have to respect my mother too. He agrees to hear what Gangaa has to say. Send her inside. Madhvi smiles.
Gangaa smiles looking at the agreement paper in her hand. Drishti and Pulkit are intrigued, but Sagar says it is our secret. Drishti asks them to join them. Amma ji tells the kids to get ready. Your uncle is taking you out for snacks. She agrees to make excuse for them before their parents. Drishti requests Amma ji to join them too. Amma ji agrees. Sagar wants to take Gangaa too, but Amma ji doesn’t want to upset her Sister-in-law again. She goes out of the room. Gangaa tells Sagar to go. He nods. Gangaa eyes the letter happily.
Gangaa goes upstairs to meet Niranjan as Maharaj ji tells her to. He knows that she is upset with Amma ji for always stopping her from doing things her way. I gave your responsibility to Amma ji for your own sake. you weren’t listening to anyone. You were breaking all the rules. I thought Amma ji could teach you everything. Master ji hasn’t complained to me even once since Amma ji has taken charge. She can be all tough / strict on you, but she is doing everything for your welfare. It is only good for you, if you have started studying because of her strictness. This is ultimately going to benefit you. You will have to fill this form to give test. She is tensed thinking that she will have to write.

Niranjan gives an admission form to Gangaa to fill. He tells her all what she has to fill and where. She is tensed thinking that she will have to write everything. He nods. Fill it so Raghav ji can submit it tomorrow. Fill this much and I will fill the rest. Gangaa looks at the form.
The kids enjoy the snacks. Sagar finds it spicy. Drishti (Bubbly) and Pulkit tease him more about it. Bubbly’s father brings a plate of snacks for Amma ji. She politely refuses to eat anything after evening time. He is impressed with her dedication. She says it isn’t easy. Niranjan is completely foreign from his mentality. He has brought that widow girl home and is making arrangements so she can study. Her Sister-in-law is surprised. Amma ji talks against Gangaa. She is already so stubborn. Will she listen to anyone at all if she learns to read and write?
Gangaa has filled the form in her style (reverse letters). Niranjan asks her about it. Tell me honestly, what have you learnt from Master ji? You know a little bit, right? Recite what he teaches you every day. Gangaa recites Hanuman Chalisa. Niranjan is shocked.
Amma ji continues to talk against Gangaa. Niranjan was thinking of sending her to school. What will she study there except science, maths, etc? I made up my mind against it. Teach her all The scriptures at home. I scared her and then misguided Niranjan a little. I explained things to her Master ji (teacher) as well. I have taken responsibility of her today. Thankfully, she recites the verses of the Holy Scripture so beautifully that it touches your heart. Her Sister-in-law is impressed. You did a very good job. The girl’s life will change for better.

Niranjan finds out the truth. This means Amma ji has told Master ji to teach you Scriptures instead of course books. I have given her your responsibility. I made a very big mistake. You wanted to complain to me regarding Amma ji, right? Tell me what it is. Tell me what she has done? Don’t be scared. Gangaa relates everything to him. I made a very big mistake. I lied to you, and Master ji to avoid studies. I lied and it is a sin. You can punish me, but please don’t be upset with me. Niranjan gets up angrily and walks out of his room.
The kids enjoy the snacks. Pulkit notices one of his acquaintance Varun. The boys talk to him. They also introduce him to their sister. Pulkit pulls him to eat some snacks. Varun has to go watch movie with his friends, but agrees when the kids request him to join them. They get into a eating competition. Sagar’s Uncle goes to pay the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper has mistakenly exchanged Bubblys’s golgappa (snacks) with that of Varun’s. Varun tells her not to eat it as it is very spicy. He extends his hand to take it from her. Bubbly’s father looks at them from a distance. Varun takes the golgappa from Bubbly’s hand. Bubbly’s father angrily calls out for her. The kids are scared. Bubbly goes to sit in the car. Sagar and Pulkit introduce their Uncle to Varun. He sends them towards the car too. He next warns Varun not to come near his daughter or he won’t spare him. He pays the vendor. Amma ji notices the fearful expression on Bubbly’s face. Her Sister-in-law scolds the kids to sit inside right away. They oblige.
Everyone is quiet as they return home. Madhvi asks them to freshen up so they can eat. Omkar says I will eat later. He leaves. Amma ji tells Bubbly not to be worried. He is your father after all. He just doesn’t like it when a boy and a girl talk like that. Sagar begins to share it with Madhvi, but Amma ji stops him. He sends the kids to go and study for their exam tomorrow. Madhvi assures Bubbly that she can explain her point to her father a while later. Amma ji nods. He is the father of the girl, so he is bound to worry for you. We are all here, don’t worry!
Amma ji comes to her room while saying a verse. Niranjan completes it for her. She is surprised to see him sitting in the dark. He speaks a lot many chaupaiyan too. You had only taught me these. I was a kid, but you had told me that it is important to know about your culture / scriptures. Education is nothing without it. I remember everything that you have taught me. I never forgot it even when I went abroad. I am proud of our culture, but I am equally proud of my education because of which I have become a famous and a good lawyer like my father. You never stopped me as you knew the importance of modern education in today’s time. You believe in it, right? She is confused as to why he is saying all this. He replies that she has played with Gangaa’s life even after knowing everything. Truth is, I trusted you regarding her studies. I thought you won’t do injustice with her but… Amma ji talks about all the excuses that Gangaa had made just to be excused from studies. Niranjan wonders why she let Gangaa do it. What would you have done if it was Sagar in her place? She points out that Sagar is a boy and Gangaa is a girl, so they are not to be compared. Plus she is a widow. What will she do by studying? He asks her how Gangaa will sustain herself without education? She reasons that this is why she has made sure that Gangaa learns all the scriptures. He asks her if she wants Gangaa to also live on other people’s pity like Sudha and other ladies in the widow ashram? Do you want her to live a life like that? Amma ji calls it Gangaa’s destiny. The world has not changed. I haven’t done anything that Gangaa didn’t want to. She didn’t even want to study. Call her and ask her about it. I will do whatever you say if she says that I am stopping her from studying. He cannot understand who has hurt him more today – Gangaa or Amma ji? He says She doesn’t understand what she is depriving herself from and you know its importance, yet you are keeping her away from it all! He leaves from there. Amma ji thinks of Sudha’s words.
Gangaa requests Niranjan not to be upset with her. You can punish me, but please don’t be upset with me! He walks away without saying anything to her.
Niranjan’s words echo in Amma ji’s mind. Gangaa notices her thus. She spreads her bedding. Amma ji tells her to go away as all this has happened because of her. My son said so much to me because of you. He has hurt me so much. I will never forgive you for this. Go away! Gangaa sadly leaves.

Gangaa comes to Sagar and Pulkit’s room. She asks Sagar to talk to her. No one is talking to me. He has exam tomorrow and wants to concentrate on his studies today. Please let me study. She gets sad.
Pulkit notices Gangaa tensed. She turns to go when Sagar calls out for her. Is no one really talking to you? Is this why you feel like crying? She signals no to both the answers. He allows her to let her sit beside him quietly. Hold my hand and you won’t feel alone. Pulkit smiles seeing their bonding. Gangaa holds Sagar’s hands while he studies. Pulkit too continues to study. Gangaa falls asleep while holding Sagar’s hand.
Omkar sits angrily in his room. Bubbly comes to talk to him. She is scared of his anger. Forgive me for hurting you, but honestly, I wasn’t wrong. He (Varun) was talking to Pulkit and Sagar. I wasn’t even talking to him. I wasn’t wrong. He holds her hand angrily. You know your mistake? Your birth! This mistake was actually done by your mother. My fate is to be blamed as I married your mother. She never gave me happiness and even gave birth to a girl. Till when will I bear you! You are just like your mother, shameless! You all have her bad habits. You have made my life hell. He changes his demeanour when he hears Madhvi calling out for Drishti (bubbly). Madhvi comes to tell her that she will be sleeping in Dadi’s room tonight. She is surprised to see Drishti thus. Her dad acts all calm. He even caresses her head lovingly. There is nothing to cry about. One should not mingle with such boys too much. They are very cunning. They make use of every opportunity. I am only scared for that reason. Now calm down. Madhvi offers to talk to Drishti. He says I will be really grateful to you. She is a motherless child. You only can handle her. Drishti leaves with Madhvi.
Madhvi talks to Drishti. Your father has also apologized now, so calm down. A father’s responsibility increases when his wife is no more. I am also like your mother. Can a mother see her daughter crying? Drishti shakes her head. Drishti comes to Amma ji’s room. They both lie down to sleep. Amma ji pats on Drishti’s back lovingly. Drishti thinks of her father’s harsh words while Amma ji thinks of Niranjan’s words.
Gangaa and Sagar have fallen asleep in the courtyard, holding hands.
Niranjan paces worriedly in his study room. Madhvi notices him thus.
