SUNDAY UPDATE ON GANGAA S2, 17TH OF FEBRUARY 2019

Everyone fails in stopping Amma ji. Prabha talks of what would happen. Everyone is highly concerned for Amma ji. Amma ji wants to make up for Sagar’s mistake. Niru comes just then. Madhvi requests him to stop Amma ji. Niru wants to know what has happened. Madhvi shares that Sagar filled vermilion in Gangaa’s head. They are not listening to anyone. Sagar wants to marry Gangaa. Do something before everything is finished! Explain to your Son before something happens to Amma ji. Amma ji loses consciousness. Everyone takes her to her room.

It is night. The Doctor gives injection to Amma ji. You shouldn’t have taken bath with a cold water in this age and weather. Be extra careful. Amma ji is all quiet. Niru thinks of Madhvi’s words. Pulkit tells them about Sagar and Gangaa coming back. Amma ji sits up.

Gangaa is hesitant. She holds Sagar’s hand while worried. He assures her that his Papa will handle everything. I am also here. She nods. They both go inside. They look at the place where Amma ji was sitting. Niru sees them. He calls out Sagar’s name. Sagar hugs him. Everyone comes there as well. Sagar asks his father to explain to everyone. I am not doing something wrong. You don’t know what happened here. Niru says I know. Sagar holds Gangaa’s hand. Make a decision when you know everything. Tell everyone Gangaa has a right to live. We have a right to marry the one we like. We love one another. Love isn’t a sin. How can we be wrong as per religions or scriptures? Gangaa is your favourite. You used to say that she cannot do anything wrong. Why was she insulted in the house then? Make everyone understand.

Niru tells him to wait a minute shocking both Gangaa and Sagar. Today I need to make you both understand things. Sagar and Gangaa are taken aback. Sagar asks him if Gangaa has no right to live? Niru says she does have a right to dream, to study, to live. I helped her. I brought her from the widow ashram, raised her, but what did she do? She misused her right. How could she think she will become the Daughter-in-law of the Chaturvedi family? You too misunderstood. You very well know Gangaa is a child widow. Pitying her and bringing her home is one thing, while making her the Daughter-in-law is another. I don’t accept it. I won’t allow this! Gangaa and Sagar are stunned. Gangaa takes her hand back. Sagar and Niru looks at her.
Gangaa step back in tears as Niru’s words haunt her. Niru looks away.

Gangaa thinks of how she met Sir and when he took her with him to his home. Niru does not look her in the eye. I know you have been hurt by words. You are a really nice girl. I am attached to you, love you but! Gangaa asks him but what? I was living in this illusion that you love me. I got to know today it was a lie. You never loved me. You have kept me in the dark over all these years. Amma ji warns her to stop. How dare you say that to Niru! He brought you here when you had no roof over your head! How dare you call him a cheater! You will question him? Gangaa says nothing is left to ask now. Sir brought me here. He fought with the world to keep a lonely little Orphan girl to keep her here. Was that fight for me or to prove yourself as a just person? You became a great person. Everyone appreciates you regarding humanity by talking about your good deeds. The truth is, you never thought of me as a human. I was a prize / trophy for you so you could gain in people’s eyes. You indeed are a great person. Ganga got burdened under it. I was so proud of my self-respect. Today, I realise you have trampled it under your feet to fulfil your motive. The Gangaa, who you raised up and tried to gain the respect of society, why did you get scared today when she was asking for her rights? Say something!

Madhvi asks her how dare she talk to Niru like that! Gangaa says I loved you like a mother. I never questioned anything you say. The truth is you could never become my Mother. I used to feel bad, but never complained. You might not think of me to be your daughter, but I looked at you as my mother. I am not upset with you. I am upset with Sir and of my immaturity. The day, when he saved me from falling in the river, wiped my tears and brought me here, I felt like God sent him in place of my Bappa. I was stupid. I couldn’t realise that you were taking care of your respect that ways. I can’t believe the person I gave the place of my Bappa in my life will be this selfish! You have done many favours for me. Do one last favour now. Look at me now. Niru looks at her. She asks him to call her mad! Tell me I am wrong to think this is my Bappa’s love for me. This is the pity of Judge Niranjan Chaturvedi! I pitied you like people pity animals. I hated words like pity and alms. I stayed hungry, but refused to eat what I got it from alms. You broke my pride. You gave me everything in pity! Pity in place of rights! Did I ask for it? Why did you do it then? Niru says these things don’t matter now! I have already said what I wanted to. Gangaa leaves from there in tears.

Pulkit tries to go after her, but Niru stops him. Let her stay alone for some time. Sagar looks at him. Leave her alone for some time? You left her alone forever today. She thought of this home as her own, the Sir who she trusted broke her trust today! Niru says I didn’t do anything wrong. Sagar says she gave you her Bappa’s place. She trusted you more than anyone else. Everyone knows she won’t take anyone’s pity. She would rather choose to die. You broke her trust completely. You proved to her today that she was living on your pity till date. The hurt you have given her cannot be healed in this life! Niru tries to make him understand. She cannot get what she wants. Sagar demands to know why! You call yourself a modern man. When Sahil wanted to marry Gangaa, you readily agreed. What happened today when it is your own Son in Sahil’s place? It does get difficult when you have to follow the big words you say. In common man’s language, it is called double standards! Niru angrily raises his hand mid air to slap Sagar, but stops himself.

Sagar turns to go when Niru tells him to look at himself first. What are you? You said you loved Janvi. You did Roka/Introduction with her. You fell in love with Gangaa as soon as Janvi left! You are lecturing me about love and trust. Didn’t you break Janvi’s trust? Wasn’t your love towards her a lie? You backed off from your promise. I am not one of them. I have promised Janvi’s parents. You will marry only Janvi and that too very soon! Sagar tells Niru I understood you know nothing about relations. You are a Judge though. I am married to Gangaa now. She is my wife! Legally, I cannot marry someone else now. Niru asks him who will accept this marriage? You came in a village and put vermilion in someone’s forehead. Who will accept it? Sagar replies that he does.

Sagar says I learnt how to break a promise from you! Before promising Janvi and her parents, you had made a promise to Gangaa. You told her you will fulfil all her happiness. You broke it, right? Like father, like son! He walks out of the house. Prabha is glad that Sagar went against his father again.

Gangaa keeps thinking of all the love showered on her by Sir since he first met her. She is sitting near the ghaat. Niru’s words still hurt her. She hears the sound of anklets. Little Gangaa comes there. Will you not do prayer? Gangaa denies it. We light oil lamp to hope for good. It disappeared from my life. The light of oil lamp is of no use to me. Little Gangaa tells her not to talk like this. You have so much. Gangaa says all the relations are borrowed. Everyone is selfish. They stick to only their motives. Madhvi couldn’t love me like her kid too. The truth is I am an orphan. I have no one. My stubbornness not to accept this truth ruined my life. Why didn’t you stop dreaming when you were a kid? I wouldn’t have been this hurt if you had learned to accept the truth in childhood that everyone does everything for their own selfish reasons! Little Gangaa compares her Sir to Bappa. Gangaa too used to feel that ways. He is only Niranjan Sir, a famous lawyer of Banaras. He pitied me and took me to his home. It is just like you that took in some animal on the street, pitied him and take him to your home with you. Sir cannot be my Bappa. He knows my self-respect is everything yo me. He pitied me! Little Gangaa refuses to believe it, but Gangaa repeats she mistook his favour for love. The sooner I accept this truth, the better. Little Gangaa is sure her Sir can never do anything wrong. Gangaa repeats Niru’s words. I am only a widow for him, nothing more! Little Gangaa breaks down. Sir cannot break my trust. Gangaa hugs her. He broke our trust. Little Gangaa asks about Sagar? He will also change? Will he also cheat me? Gangaa declines. He is the only one who understood me and stood by me. He even went against his father. He understood Gangaa as Gangaa and not an orphan. Little Gangaa scolds her for talking negatively then. You have everything as long as you have Sagar. Bappa used to say that it gets darkest when the sun is about to come. You have Sagar with you. As long as he is there, you shouldn’t talk negatively. She points at the oil lamps. Light a oil lamp of hope till the sun is out. Never let it fade.

Prabha comes there. Gangaa looks around for Little Gangaa, but she is gone by then. Prabha acts to be concerned about Gangaa. I knew I will find you here. What will you do now? Where will you go?

Maharaj ji brings Amma ji’s medicines, but she asks for poison instead. I should have died before seeing my son and grandson fighting. Niru looks at them from afar. Maharaj ji is worried about Gangaa. Amma ji knows Sagar went after her. I never say anything bad about anyone, but today I wish this girl would die. She should not see tomorrow’s sun! Maharaj ji sadly leaves from there.

Niru asks his mother why she’s blaming Gangaa? Sagar is equally at fault. Amma ji blames him instead. I told you to leave her from where you picked her up. See what happened today! She fooled you. Niru says I will handle everything. I won’t let it happen. Sagar cannot go against me. He will have to listen to me and follow my words too. Amma ji points at the similarity between him and Sagar. He won’t listen to anyone now. I know him. No one can save us now! Niru leaves from there.

Sagar comes to Prabha’s house. Prabha tells him Gangaa is highly upset. He rushes inside. Prabha smirks.
Gangaa is crying. She looks at the shoes and recalls Sir giving her shoes in childhood. Sagar enters just then. I have been looking for you. Didn’t you think about me once? What are you doing? She relates the shoe incident to him. I was so ecstatic. He thinks of the same thing. She wonders if it was also an act of pity? If I knew then, I would have never taken it from Sir. Thorns or stones don’t hurt as much as knowing this hurts, that Sir pitied me. Sir pitied me! He never loved me. I thought of alms as love. Sir gave me everything in alms. He never loved me. He hugs her to comfort her. I know your Sir has cheated you big time. He does justice to people, but failed before you. I know he has disappointed you. Trust me, I will never do this to you. I will never cheat you or give you a chance to complain. Your every tear is mine, while my every happiness is yours. He hugs her while she cries.
