Sunday Update on Jodha & Akbar, 16th May, 2021

Jalal is having a royal bath in his Hammam (Bathhouse), when Ruqaiya comes and starts helping him. Jalal gives her a smirk and asks if she’s doing it for love or out of anger? Ruqaiya tells him about the Priest words. Jalal tells her that he did not know about his words and if she wants to come with him, then he will talk to his Mother. Ruqaiya refuses and leaves.

Salima also gives Jodha a religious advice to pray from her heart, and not because Mother (Hamida bano) has asked her to go to Ajmer.

Jalal comes. He greets Salima and she leaves. Jalal taunts Jodha that if she doesn’t want to pray, then she can refuse to go to Ajmer. She says that she will pray for the King.

Hamida bano and Gul Badan are talking. Hamida bano says she has always wanted Jodha and Jalal to go to Ajmer, ever since they got married, and she wanted both of them to be together and near to each other as well.

Jodha walks past Jalal but trips, and falls, but she’s caught on time by Jalal. The Background Music accentuates the scene when both Jodha-Jalal exchanges taunts at each other. Hamida bano and Gul Badan watched this brief encounter and Hamida says that these taunts will make them come closer.

Adham Khan conspires with some Courtiers to kill Jalal when both Jodha-Jalal are on their way to Ajmer. The Men tries to talk some sense into Adham Khan that they shouldn’t take any actions in haste.

Maham Anga comes there and asks Adham Khan what he’s up to? Adham Khan lies that he was talking about how to curb the revolters/rebellions at Malwa. Maham Anga tries to talk to Adham Khan, but he leaves.

Ruqaiya and Salima are playing chess when some other Queens taunts Ruqaiya that Jodha actually won over her, as she’s going to Ajmer with Jalal.

Ruqaiya recalls Maham Anga’s words and gets agitated. She takes the turn, but Salima also puts a King on her Queen, but she eventually lost the game and Ruqaiya fans her ego in pride.

Hamida bano tells Jalal to take care of Jodha on the journey, as this happens to be her first outing with him after their marriage.

Jodha tells the maid that she’s sure that there’s no separate tent for Jalal, and she won’t agree to spend the night with him. She goes and tells the same to Jalal, when he mocks her and shows her his tent which is opposite to hers and says that even he, doesn’t want to see her face!

Jalal notices an intruder and the Soldiers disarm him. When asked, he pours out his wrath against Amer and Jodha! Jalal is about to kill him, when Jodha stops him and says that the intruder is right in whatever he said, that Jalal is responsible for this act and state! Jalal seems very hurt.

Jalal comes to Jodha’s tent. They both exchange an angry look. Jodha says she won’t sleep, as there is some outsider in her tent Jalal tells her to sleep, then she keeps a watch, when he sleeps.

Jodha is unable to sleep, so she goes to have water. Jalal wakes up due to a noise, but then, seeing Jodha, he lowers the Sword.

Both again go to their respective places. Jodha sleeps off, and Jalal suddenly notices something in Jodha’s bed and goes to remove her scarf. Jodha wakes up and gives a long lecture of a good character and conduct, and how to keep to a promise, and not misbehave with her…!

Jalal calmly listens to her, then removes her scarf and holds the snake to show her and he smirks. Jodha is shocked.

Jalal converses with the Cobra, asking him how he dared touch his wife, doesn’t he understand that his poison doesn’t stand anywhere near the poisonous words of his Wife? He throws the Snake away.

He tells Jodha that he saved a Snake’s life, else the blame would have fallen on Jodha. They exchange some sweet nothings. Jalal asks her to smile as he cracked a joke. They both go off to sleep, but not without talking in a civilized manner, stealing glances and exchanging good night wishes

Jalal tells the intruder that he wasn’t murdered, as he (Jalal) is on a holy pilgrimage.

On the way to Ajmer, Jalal sees a fakir (religious mendicants), and he says that he’s collecting clothes for people that has been hit by a calamity. Jodha comes forward and starts to give away bangles. Jalal tells her to stop, and instead, offers his (already-tied turban) and jewels.

Jodha initially thought that Jalal is heartless and doesn’t want to give alms, but she’s surprised to see this change in him.

The souls talk – Jodha says that she did not realise at that time that this trip will change her life. Jalal says he was Jalal then, and not Akbar.

At the dargah (a Muslim shrine): The fakir (religious mendicants) welcomes Jodha-Jalal. Jalal tells Jodha that she has the freedom of not praying at this place, while Jodha tells him of the importance of Ajmer Sharif.

She looks at Jalal and prays in the same manner, Jalal also looks at her from the corner of his eyes. The Priest blesses Jodha-Jalal and that they will soon get an heir. Jalal gives sweet offering to Jodha and she eats it. They both tie the threads. Jalal tells Jodha that he wished that her wish comes true, as he has everything in life. Jodha wished that she’s given a chance to Jalal.

They both sit and the men start performing to Sufi song.

The soul of Jodha says that it was this day, she realised that Jalal was not only a King, but he also has a heart.

Jalal gets up and he too dances with the other devotees. Jodha is surprised and happy to see Jalal in such a different avatar and prays to her almighty.

Jalal tells the Commander that he and Jodha will go hunting, the next day. Jodha and Jalal have a face off about going hunting, being a hobby and habituation/addiction for him, while it’s no fun to her, as she loves to free the creatures.

In the forest, they both start fighting again. She tells him that she was the one who spoilt the hunting of the deer earlier, when he and Ruqaiya had gone hunting. Jalal finally orders her to keep quiet, as it will alert the animals! He watches and tells that there is some danger lurking around. He gets ready with the gun and there is a tiger coming towards them.

Jalal is looking out for the hint that there is a wild animal in the vicinity.
