Agra:
The ladies from the harem are organising a fair, Meena Bazaar (a special bazaar to sell items to raise money for charity and non-profit organizations) and they are discussing who will get the best benefit at the hands of Jalal… Whom will Jalal favour and from where will he buy the most? They wonder why Rukaiya is given so much importance than them. Ruqaiya comes there and gives a cold stare at everyone. She tells the eunuch that though, she won’t put up a stall but still, for Jalal, she will be the chosen one.
The ladies are awaiting and Jalal is doing the rounds of the stalls, he doesn’t like the shoes which Zeenat shows him and then visits the stall where Ruqaiya is busy having hookah (It is a contraption to smoke cannabis, hemp or tobacco with a burner called Chilam from which the smoke passes through a pot filled with water before being inhaled by the person who smokes). He asks Ruqaiya why she hasn’t decorated her stall, and she states that it’s the simplicity that counts the most. She tells him that she will show him something that he will buy at any cost. She comes up with Pashmina shawl and tells Jalal about its importance and the goodness. Jalal is in doubt, so she makes him wear it, and asks him to have hookah (Shisha) and see for himself. Jalal finally agrees that though, it’s old but it’s really good, and she quotes its price to be 1 lakh (100,000) gold coins, Jalal is surprised, but eventually, agrees as he always likes to keep the things he loves. Jalal leaves after giving a final glance at others and then Ruqayia.
Ruqayia tells the ladies that they spent their time decorating themselves and the stall, but forgot that it’s only her who knows what Jalal really wants.
One of the ladies tells that very soon, Ruqayia’s pride will fall.
Amer:
Jodha is preparing food in the kitchen. Her Grandmother and other ladies tease her and she blushes. Her Grandmother tastes the food and finds it very spicy. Jodha says that this dish was according to Suryabhan’s tastes. Her grandmother tells that she wants to celebrate Diwali and yam dwitiya AKA Bhai Dooj (a celebration at which brothers and sisters exchange blessings and gifts. It is celebrated on the last day of the festival of Diwali) for Sujamal, as this will be the last one before her marriage. Bharmal gets angry at the very mention of Sujamal. Grandma gives him some reason and Bharmal tells her that she has to cross Agra to reach Mathura for a holy dip in Yamuna. The other men assures him of her safety. Grandma tells the story of the brother-sister of Yam and Yamuna to all the girls.
Jodha along with girls are celebrating Diwali festival with oil lamps, and performs Laxmi’s (goddess of wealth and prosperity) prayer.
Agra:
Some ladies are putting oil lamps and Maham Agna comes there and threatens them to stop the rituals, when Jalal’s mother arrives there and asks them to go ahead with the function. She tells Maham Anga that it was on Diwali night that she was saved by some Hindus when she was carrying Jalal. Msham Agna agrees and Jalal’s mother leave. Msham Agna takes this opportunity to once again threaten the ladies there and tells one of them that she will make her life hell if she continues lighting up the oil lamps! They back out and Maham Agna tells the eunuch to clean the place as she will do the namaaz/salah (Islamic prayer) on that same very place.
Another confidante of Ruqayia informs her about the incident. Ruqayia tells that she’s getting too big for her shoes, but she knows her weakness, Maham Agna’s son – Adham Khan.
Adham Khan is whipping someone and everyone is petrified, he tells all to pay their yearly taxation as soon as possible which is levied only on Hindus. Some old man tries to go against him, Adham Khan asks him to convert to Islam, and threatens him with his grandson’s life! The old man relents and Adham Khan announces that the Mughals will neither have to pay their yearly taxation nor whipped.
Some soldiers comes and informs Adham Khan that Bairam Khan has won over some Rajput kingdom and he is going to cut off his head.
A king is in chains produced before Bairam Khan. Bairam Khan asks him for his last wish and Bairam Khan is about to kill him when Jalal comes there and tells him that it will be an eye for an eye life/existence. The Rajput King tells him that Jalal’s Grandpa, Humayun, who was defeated at the hands of Shershah Suri, was given shelter, by the Rajputs, hence he should be freed. Jalal thinks over it and announces that the king should be released. Bairam Khan is shocked to hear this and demands reason from Jalal. Jalal says that he has to respect his Grandpa, else his subjects won’t ever believe in him.
Maham Agna and Adham Khan are arguing with each other, and Adham Khan is gloating about his success when Maham Agna gives him a slap and assures him that she will make him the Commander-in-Chief and to wait for some time when she will tackle Bairam Khan.
Bairam Khan is with his soldiers, and a soldier informs him about the whereabouts of the Rajput king whom Jalal had pardoned. He thinks to wipe out the king, and a soldier tries to challenge his decision, but he cuts off his head and asks everyone present if anyone has any other doubt?
The king is hanged from the tree. Bairam Khan tells his soldiers to bury him! Adham Khan watches this, unknown to them.
On the way to Mathura, Jodha takes a detour and lands up at Suryabhan’s kingdom, Bhanpur. Suryabhan’s sister takes an examination before Jodha enters the house—to choose Suryabhan’s sword among the many laid. Jodha-Suryabhan share an eyelock and Jodha picks up the right one. Suryabhan’s sister along with others are amazed and his Sister asked Jodha how she could easily get the right sword that belongs to her brother and Jodha tells her it’s a task she (Jodha) is given her (Suryabhan’s sister) as well, and the others laughs, including Suryabhan’s mother. Suryabhan takes Jodha on the fort tour and tells that she can’t forget the sword as this was the one which she had put on Jalal’s neck. Suryabhan assures her that he will get Jalal’s head and both have an eyelock and their background song starts. Suryabhan shows her the painting of Prithviraj Chauhan which is painted by him, and Jodha is very impressed and Suryabhan asks if it’s fine if she can be his muse too?
Jalal is practicing with the sword and Abdul warns him about Bairam Khan as he thinks that Bairam Khan might challenge Jalal and take revenge. Jalal once again puts full faith in Bairam Khan and tells Abdul that he trusts him like a father.
Jalal is looking at his painting, and he teases Ruqayia, and they both have a slight romantic look. He then asks her why she had the painting done when he’s always available for her, as his body and soul belongs to her, but she made him know of the fact that he isn’t always here with her. She then informs him that the painter (A lady as she uses ‘She’ to describe the painter) has never ever seen Jalal, but did the painting just as she has described, and this impresses Jalal.
A soldier comes and once Ruqayia as left the room, he quickly informs Jalal that some people from Amer are on their way to Bhanpur and the Rajputs are ganging up against Mughals. Jalal gets agitated and searches for Jodha’s anklet, and Abdul warns him about the war.
