Suryabhan and Jodha walk towards the the arrested; jail inmates.
Jalal is shown closeby. He overhears their conversation.
Suryabhan asks Jodha, that why was it so, that while other women her age asked for clothes and jewellery, she asked for Jalal’s head (during gangaur)? Jodha is furious thinking about Jalal again, she gives a a very detailed description of the brutality he had caused or so she had heard him do.
Jalal who had been very calm (and smiling) listening to their conversation, burns in anger as he hears Jodha say such mean things about him. A part of him look shocked, a part of him disappointed and another part, the egoistic emperoror part, definitely angry. His ego seemed hurt. As he moves along, he hears some maids praising Suryabhan and how he suits Jodha. Jalal is filled with rage again. He also hears the maid talk about the Mughal’s arrested man (Abdul) and about where he was being held. Jalal rushes towards Abdul and it seemed almost as though he was going to declare a face to face war against the enemy. But no, the ‘master of disguises wouldn’t let go of his act that easily. He shoots out harsh words at Abdul and says that he shouldn’t be allowed to breathe, and must be killed. (A few “treachery, mughal” and so on in a mix) *epic scene! *
A fellow soldier tags along with Jalal and says that, death would be a lighter punishment for the Mughal man (Abdul), and he should be tortured and that is exactly what they are going to do.
Abdul who was fully exhuasted and clearly in pain, didn’t just shut up, he striked back at that soldier and says that his King would free him, right infront of their eyes and they wouldn’t even know.
Abdul now looks up to see Jalal and his eyes clearly showed relief, also that “The fun begins now” look. Jalal returns that look.
Cut to, Bhaarmal’s Court. Sangram Singh comes with news that Jalal is known for disguising himself and entering the enemy clan before the war. Obviously, to know more about the enemy kingdom, his war tactics and all. Bhaarmal takes it lightly though, stating that he cannot beat the Amber’s soldiers.
Meanwhile Jodha and Suryabhan reach this part of the jail.
While all the other inmates of the jail were being loaded with gifts, Suryabhan refused to give Abdul anything, since he was a Mughal.
Abdul strikes back again saying, his King is close, pretty close and they can’t even have a clue about his whereabouts. He might be so close, that his sword can put an end to this one swing
Jalal was actually holding a sword in his hand and was hardly a few feet away from them.
Jodha retorts saying Jalal can in no way have so much guts!
Jalal is filled with wrath again.
As Suryabhan and Jodha are about to leave, Jodha’s eyes fall on Jalal and she is star struck again *she remembers the ghaat (a place at the edge of a river) scene. The Bbackground music is played again…
Jodha grows suspicious. She immediately snatches a sword from Suryabhan and places it right at Jalal’s throat. She asks him what he was doing in the ghaat the other day? Jalal gives a sracastic reply in Rajputaani language. He says that he didn’t know they weren’t free to go as per their liking here, because in his place, there aren’t such restrictions. Jodha’s suspicion increases, she asks him where he’s from? Jalal now look straight into her eyes (Jodha clearly skipped a beat) and Jalal smiles and says “Umarkot province” (A part of Rajput territory). But Jodha wasn’t done yet. She asks him to prove that he is a Rajput soldier, afterall? She asks all the other soldiers to do the same, and all of them show their left arm, on which a sun was tattoed. Jalal gave the “he was ready for this” look. The master of disguise (Jalal) believed in perfection and while he killed that soldier before entering the jail, he did notice this tattoo in his hand and hence, he managed doing the same on his hand. So he still wasn’t caught, even till now.
Jodha, though not externally, but internally, she clerly seems relieved that he wasn’t an enemy. The ghaat (edge of the river scene reflection) is shown again. She apologises and says that, she had a hunch that he could be from the enemy clan, so she had to check. Mughals could have been anywhere and they didn’t want to take risks.
Jalal replies, saying that it is true, but there is another thing he is worried about, and when asked what, he says he doesn’t trust the ‘air’ as well. The enemy can come through the air as well, you know? Jodha seemed impressed with him. In return of her faulty suspicion, to compensate for that, she says, he could punish the Mughal arrested man as per his wish and that would be his gift. With that, they leave.
Jalal need not do anything more now. His job becomes even more easier.
Meanwhile, Menavati and her Sister-in-law comes to a Kali temple (possibly their deities which are worshiped by their clans). Co-incidently, Shaguni is incharge of the temple. Menavati places the invitation of Jodha-Suryabhan wedding at goddess Kali’s feet.
Shaguni is shown chanting some mantras.
Menavati seemed proud and happy that Shaguni’s fortune telling was wrong afterall. She says that to her again, Jodha will be getting married to Suryabhan and so forth. She asks for Shaguni’s blessings.
Shaguni says that whatever she does, fate doesn’t change. History stinks of blood and war, but whenever Jodha is spoken of, she would stand for ‘love’. She will not only do good to Rajputana, but to the entire nation. She will be married,to one of the biggest emperors in history. Menavati, deeply annoyed again, leaves.
Meanwhile, as Suryabhan and Jodha reach the exit of the jail, they see some soldiers carrying a cadaver (corpse). While questioning, they come to know that the soldier was found dead, and seemed like the enemy was close by and can attack at anytime.
At the very moment,a loud yell is heard. Everyone rushes inside, and the sight infront of them was shocking. Not one soldier was left alive, everyone laid on the ground, dead!
The Voiceover says that Jalal is taking away injured Abdul on his horse, the bugle of war has been blown unknowingly. Jalal wants to capture Amer by hook or crook and get Jodha in his palace/harem to teach her the lessons! Jalal was illiterate and asked Abdul to write the warning on the wall/ground of the prison that says “Our next encounter would be on the battlefield… KING OF KINGS -EMPEROR JALAL-UD-DIN MOHAMAD”
Suryabhan motivates and encourages the soldiers to find out Jalal and the one who captures him, will be rewarded as the commander of the Rajputanas!Jalal is surrounded by the soldiers, he is asked to surrender, he gestures and starts fighting, killing them softly, and slowly and he gets the flashback of Jodha’s words at the prison. With perfect deftness (Skilful performance), he kills all except one.
One of the soldier returns and takes Suryabhan and Jodha to the place of mass massacre and they are all shocked at the sight. Suryabhan takes the pledge that Jalal will have to answer for his act! Jodha is speechless and worried.
Jodha’s father, the King of Amer – Bharmal and Suryabhan are encouraging the subjects and getting ready to take revenge on the Mughals for his dare devilry act and Suryabhan vows that until the time he gets Jalal’s head, he is not going to marry Jodha. The ladies are all getting emotional as the war is declared and they get tensed about Jauhar (mass self-immolation by women in parts of the Indian subcontinent, to avoid capture, enslavement and rape by foreign invaders, when facing certain defeat during a war).
Jodha is recollecting her interactions with Jalal at the prison, and almost burns her hands while remembering her vow which she took at the temple. She is disgusted with the fact that Jalal is such a coward that he was in disguise for the past 3 days and tells her mother that it was him she saw near the river edge. Her mother remembers the lady (Shaguni’s) forecast about Jodha going to Mughal’s house.
Moti comes and informs them that Suryabhan has refused to marry Jodha, and hands a letter to Jodha which says that he wants to meet her as soon as possible.
Jodha’s mother questions her father about Suryabhan’s decision and she’s surprised to know that he too agrees with his line of thought.
Suryabhan tells Jodha that though they are not allowed to meet in private, but he wants to clarify certain things about his decision. He tells her that he has to first think about his country and then get married. Jodha is pleased to hear this and he assures her that he will wipe out the reason who has become a reason to dividing between them, and Jodha gets emotional, and holds his hand and tells him that she will wait for him.
The Confectioner seth is talking to his employee and he passes out when he knows that Jalal had visited his shop.
Abdul tells Jalal that he should have gotten Jodha instead of him, and Jalal assures him that she will soon come to him and will get attracted to him herself. He is washing his face when he saw the soldiers. He gets alerted and takes out his Saber (backsword with a curved blade). Jalal gets ready with his Saber when he sees that it’s his soldiers who have surrounded him and have come to take him back to his palace.
Jalal’s mother talks to a priest at Ajmer Sherief about Jalal’s rude behaviour. He assures her that he will change and he will make him proud one day. Everyone will remember him and his good deeds.
Maham Anga (his Aunt that he loves over his own Mother) and Jalal are very pleased to see each other, and exchange pleasantries. She finds that he is hurt and tends to him with the medicines. She asks him why was she not informed about his whereabouts, And gets emotional and Jalal apologises to her. She tells him that he was just 14 years when he was hurt in a similar way and then, Jalal rests his head on her lap and she wonders how to tell Jalal about Zahir? She asks someone about him and Jalal gets agitated and goes to check on Zahir. Jalal asks who is the culprit behind Zahir’s condition. His Aunt tells him in a roundabout way and Jalal is surprised to know that Bairam Khan is responsible.
He goes to Bairam Khan’s chamber. Bairam Khan asks him where was he for the past 3 days and why did he not inform him as there is risk involved? Jalal tells him that he has always seen him as a father and questions him about Zahir? Bairam Khan tells him that he dissuaded Zahir so that he could go away and he did the right thing. Bairam Khan asks him to punish him but he says that he won’t as he’s father-like, but he will always remember that Bairam Khan was responsible for ruining the life of his most trusted aide. Bairam Khan thinks that Maham Anga has told Jalal this and she will pay for her deeds!
