Jalal takes Jodha’s hand and places it on his head and says Hamida bano wants a heir and that’s why she is going bare footed to Ajmer, and if you want to stop her, then you have to pretend that you are pregnant. Jodha takes off her hand and ask is this a joke for you? Jalal says it’s not, I pretended in front of your parents, now it’s your turn. Jodha refused, saying it’s not possible. Jalal angrily says I should have known this was going to be your answer! Jodha looks at him. They both have an angry look.
Gul Badan says to Hamida bano that you made a big promise. Hamida bano says I want them to become one. Gul says but they already are. Hamida bano says they are together, but not close.
Jodha is cursing that what does he think, that she could lie? Moti says he pretended in front of her Parents but that doesn’t mean he can ask her for just anything. She then suggest that Jodha speaks with Ruqaiya. Jodha says after losing the chess game, she has been angry, so she can’t talk to her. Moti then suggest to talk with Jalal. Jodha says he’s the one putting me in this fix, so what will he do now? Moti ask her to speak to him for once. Jodha ask her to leave.
Hoshiyar tells Ruqaiya about the Priest’s word. She laughs it off, saying Jodha will give heir? How can she, as his touch is so far… Jalal doesn’t even look at her! She says let’s see how Jodha will give a heir without Jalal’s touch.
Jodha is sitting in front of the Lord and ask to do some miracle to save her mother (Hamida bano/Empress/Jalal’s Mother) from this difficult task, as the Jalal whom she hate the most…, but how could she be with him?
Ruqaiya is offering prayers. After she is done, she gets up but feels numb, so she ask for a Doctor. The wives are gossiping in the harem/women quarters that Ruqaiya can’t give a heir, no matter how big her wish is, she only wants heir, so as to remain the important wife in Jalal’s eyes.
The Doctor checks her. Ruqaiya is not so hopeful when the Doctor informs her that she is pregnant. Ruqaiya doesn’t believe her and ask again, when she repeats that you are going to give heir to Jalal, and someone will soon call you a Mother. Ruqaiya gifts her something and says not to tell anyone this news, as the walls also have ears and she doesn’t even want them to listen, I want to give this news to Jalal in private. And smiles.
Jodha is doing aarti (a ceremony in which lights are lit and offered up to gods) of Tulsi plant. Jalal is practicing the same, as he keeps looking at her. She gives the aarti to every Hindu servant, then thinks to offer it to Jalal also? Then answers its aarti that she should give it to him. She goes up to him and offers Jalal the aarti. Jalal remembers the events of the marriage when he accepted these kind of things, like when Menewati (Jodha’s mother) offered him tilak (a sectarial mark on the forehead). He looks at Jodha and bows down, thinking she is about to apply tilak. Jodha thinks why did he bow his head? Jalal thinks why is she not applying tilak? He points at his head when Jodha says it’s for aarti not tilak. He is about to take the plate when she says I will tell you and shows him how to take the aarti. He keeps his hand on oil lamp. Jodha removes the plate from beneath his hand and she’s about to give herself the aarti, when he holds her hand and clutches it tightly. Jodha is shy. Jalal has a passionate look. The oil lamp is about to fall when they both try to save it and Jalal takes the aarti plate. Jodha is happy.
Some servant informs Jalal that Ruqaiya wants to meet him. Jalal says wait a minute and looks behind, only to see Jodha is gone. Jalal looks at his little burnt hand and smiles broadly.
Ruqaiya ask Hoshiyar to bring the mirror. He complies. Hoshiyar says he never saw her looking into the mirror before? Ruqaiya says I am looking at the mother of the heir to this Kingdom. Hoshiyar ask if she’s not happy about being a mother, than just becoming the mother of the heir to this Kingdom?
Jalal comes to her and says you asked for me at this time? She says if I stop Hamida bano from going barefooted to Ajmer? Jalal says so you are going to lie? Ruqaiya says it’s not a lie, I am going to be a mother. Jalal is stunned and ask what she just said? She repeats it again and he comes to her, caresses her and ask to keep saying it over and over again. She says she also asked the Doctor over and over again. Jalal says he will be my heir but if it’s a daughter, even then, I will love her the most and will fulfill her every wish. Ruqaiya says it will be just your heir. Jalal ask what she wants as a gift? She says she will ask, but after giving him the heir. He says then, the gift is dew. Jalal announces huge celebration for the new heir!
Ruqaiya tells Hoshiyar that finally, she has gotten what she wanted, she wants the entire control over the empire which Maham Anga has now. Resham overhears it.
Maham Anga and Adham Khan’s wife have a short Daughter in-law-Mother in- law antics when Resham comes and informs her about Ruqaiya’s words. Maham Anga is furious to hear that, as she knows that Ruqaiya can play dirty once she gets the power (since she already knows that Adham Khan did enter the harem that night).
Jalal is very happy and tells the minister to free the Prisoners, distribute money among the poors.
Hoshiyar ask whether Maham Anga will fume listening to this news? Ruqaiya says I don’t care, but the Hindu wife, Jodha will definitely fume.
Here, Jodha listens to this news and she’s very happy, saying this is the best news and now, Hamida bano will not have to go barefooted to Ajmer. Moti says and you do not have to lie to her as well.
Someone informs Hamida bano about this and says your prayers have been approved. She says it’s God blessing that he listened to my prayers.
In the harem/women quarters, some wives ask Hoshiyar if Ruqaiya is really pregnant and he says yes, she will give birth to the heir of the Mughal’s empire. They say it’s not a must that it’s going to be a son, as it could also be a daughter. Hoshiyar says it will definitely be a son and he can write it on the paper for them.
Hamida bano is with Jalal saying this is a very big news, we should celebrate it, as there should be ceremonies and all. Jalal says to Maham Anga to send invitations to all the states. She nods. Hamida bano says it seems Jodha is very lucky for the Mughals. Since the fateful day she entered the palace, only good things has been happening. She leaves, saying she really need to offer prayers to thank God.
Maham Anga ask Jalal do you agree with Hamida bano on Jodha being lucky? He says it seems she (Hamida) likes her more than me. Maham Anga laughs.
According to Jalal’s order, invitations for the ceremony is being sent to all the states.
In Amer, Bhagwant das reads the invitation. They are all happy at this news. Bharmal says I have to go to the other state to fix Sukanya’s marriage so he won’t be able to go to Agra. Menewati is not so happy. Bharmal says Bhagwant das will go and ask Menewati to send gifts, as their Son in-law is going to be a father soon. She nods. He leaves.
Menewati sits on the Couch. Sukanya ask what happened? She says in Mughals, who ever gives heir to the kingdom, becomes the big queen. I am thinking about Jodha. Her daughter in-law pacifies her saying Jodha knows how to lead her life.
Jodha is going to Ruqaiya with gift. Moti is walking slowly. Jodha ask what happened? She says I am worried for you, is it right to congratulate her? Jodha says I am Amer’s first daughter, then Jalal’s wife, it’s my duty to wish her well, and maybe she won’t like it, if I don’t go.
Hoshiyar informs Ruqaiya that Jodha is coming. Ruqaiya says Jodha got bothered so soon.
Jodha comes and congratulates her. Ruqaiya says you are here with some motive, actually you want to show the world how big your heart is, when I know you are here to lessen your jealousy! Jodha ask what jealousy, when I don’t want any of these wishes. Ruqaiya says it’s because you don’t know the power of the mother of the heir. This designation comes after King and it has all power. Jodha says whatever power you get, a mother is bigger than all, I only came to wish you well, and here is the gift for you. Ruqaiya says whatever you say, I know what’s in your heart. Jodha says a mother is bigger than all this, and whatever you think of me, I don’t care, I just want to wish you well and hopes for a good life for you and your baby, that’s all. She puts the gift down and leaves saying thanks for the welcome. Ruqaiya just looks on.
Jodha happily comes to Hamida bano’s room and greets her. Hamida bano ask her to sit. Jodha sits and says I was afraid when you talked about going barefooted. Hamida bano says daughters always care for their mothers. Jodha says but now, the problem is solved, as Ruqaiya is going to be a mother and I am happy for her. Hamida bano says that’s why you are different, whenever any wife becomes a mother in the harem, all the wives become jealous, but I can see happiness in your face because of this news. I am very happy. Jodha says I will leave now. Hamida bano makes her eat sweets and says you are very lucky for the Mughals and hopes that God will bless you with same news as Ruqaiya. Jodha’s smiles fades away. She leaves, but she’s in deep thoughts.
A maternal Aunt comes to Ruqaiya. She is her father’s sister and gifts her some dress.
Jalal comes and greets her. She leaves. Jalal says everybody is giving you gifts, it’s like we are marrying again. He looks at the table and says so these are gifts given by your Aunt? Ruqaiya says not this one, pointing to Jodha’s gift. He takes her gift. Ruqaiya sarcastically says it’s so big that it fitted into his hand easily. He opens it and finds a small spoon. Ruqaiya laughs seeing it. He also sees a note in the box. Ruqaiya says whether it’s her nagging letter. Jalal says I can’t read, so Ruqaiya read it. It’s a small poem for Ruqaiya’s child. Jalal smiles listening to it, as it’s very sweet. In the poem, “Jodha wishes her baby, saying he/she will bring happiness and will be very lucky for all, he will be naughty, and so on.“
At night, Jalal is unable to sleep, he gets a flashback of the sword fight, aarti scene and recalls the note written by Jodha. Jalal thinks that though he does not want to, but he always gets reminded of Jodha’s small, yet, thoughtful gestures, and every time he gets to know a new thing about her, she did not share his joy, but her feelings for his child, and her thoughts has touched him so deep.
In the morning, the maids are getting Jodha ready. Jodha is happy that her brothers are coming for the function. Moti is angry at Ruqaiya’s behavior with Jodha when Jalal comes in and asks everyone to leave.
He recites the poem which Jodha had written in that note and praises Jodha’s talent. He tells her to explain the spoon and poem meanings.
Jodha starts explaining and Jalal gets lost in her. He praises her and she asks him to leave in a roundabout way, he is surprised at that too and calls all the maids and tells them that he has sent some gifts for them too for the occasion.
Jodha’s people arrive in Agra.
They are welcomed grandly. Bhagwant das greets Maham Anga and Shariffudden and gives them the congratulatory gifts for Ruqaiya and Jalal.
Maham Anga ask the servant to taste the things first.
Bhagwant Das comes to Maan Singh. They both greet each other and Bhagwant Das says he’s at peace after seeing him (Maan Singh) happy here. Maan Singh says I have to be happy so that I can make Aunt Jodha happy here.
Bhagwant Das meets the other Ministers. Shariffudden comes inside. Bakshi ask if they were Jodha’s relatives? Shariffudden says yes, they were the same ones he captured and Jalal ordered to leave them and their things back to them! Bakshi looks on.
Ruqaiya takes her bath and she’s very happy. Her Aunt make her ready for the ceremony and she looks very beautiful. The Priest blesses her and makes her drink pious water. Her Aunt kisses her forehead.
Adham Khan is coming inside, when some Ministers gossip that he is back after playing politics in Mathura, but he is a good soldier with twisted head!
Adham Khan sees Moti and smirks. He lustfully looks at her. She sees him and goes away. Adham Khan says to a Servant that he will come back after meeting his Mother, Maham Anga.
Here, in the Kitchen, Maham Anga is distributing gifts among the Servants. Some Servant informs her that Adham Khan is back after defeating the evils in Mathura and he was successful there. Maham Anga is happy.
Adham Khan meets Maham Anga and greets her, then loses his temper and starts talking gibberish, asking about Moti that she’s still not dead? Maham Anga asks Resham to step out of the room. Maham Anga drills some sense into Adham Khan, and tells him how Moti was freed and she’s no threat now. Adham Khan is still gloating when Maham Anga gets frustrated and tells Adham Khan that the function is to celebrate the arrival of the heir to the Mughal throne and Ruqaiya becoming the Mariam-Uz-Zamani (Queen Mother)!
At the function hall, Hamida bano enters, followed by Jodha. Ruqaiya also comes and sits and gives a pathetic glance at Jodha.
Jalal comes and greets Jodha which Ruqaiya notices, and then takes his place. Ruqaiya sits besides him.
